Thursday, January 26 (Day 2) 01/26/2012
Period 3 Morning honors students began their day with watching the announcements and completing the warmup. We then worked on the Prologue to Romeo and Juliet, with students seeing marked improvement since we began this method of study. I then checked last night's homework. The last 15 minutes of class went toward parsing how Snowball successfully orchestrated the animals' defense of the farm and beginning Chapter 5. Homework: There's lots, but at least you get four nights to complete it all... Tonight, you need to do Quia and print your X2 report. Then, you need to journal and work on the poem (7 lines are due Monday). Next, do whichever assignment you chose for Chapter 4 (either the letter from Boxer or the comic strip depicting the Battle of the Cowshed). Then answer the questions for Chapters 3 and 4 (you should write about a page front and back total). Finally, finish reading Chapter 5 (we'll have a reading quiz in addition to the vocab quiz when you return on Monday!). Period 6 Afternoon college prep students began with warmups, the last two whiteboard sentences for this unit, and intensive Prologue practice. I then gave a pop quiz over the end of Chapter 3, checked it, and analyzed with the students exactly how Squealer persuaded the farm animals to accept the pigs' piggy behavior. We began reading Chapter 4 together as well. Homework: Write a persuasive paragraph in Squealer's style advocating being allowed to do something currently against school policy. Make sure you illustrate this paragraph colorfully. As always, you also need to be writing in your journal and studying the poem (4 lines will be due tomorrow!). Period 7 Afternoon honors students began with warmups and poetry practice. I checked last night's homework as well before beginning Chapter 5 of Animal Farm with the class. Homework: Quia is due tonight, so you need to submit that and print your X2 report as usual. Study the poem for Monday (seven lines due) and finish reading Chapter 5 (we'll have a. Don't forget that journals are due on Friday as well. Period 2 did not meet today. CommentsLeave a Reply | What'd I Miss?If you weren't in class today ArchivesFebruary 2012 Categories |
