Period 2 Morning college prep students began with warmups, whiteboard sentences, and slideshow before tackling the Prologue practice. We rounded out the period with a little work on Animal Farm; students began Chapter 2 in class. Homework: In addition to journaling and studying the current poem (4 lines due Friday), you need to finish reading Chapter 2 (for the quiz on Friday) and write up the Seven Commandments on the scroll worksheet (be sure to make it colorful!). Period 3 Morning honors students began with warmups and Prologue practice, then got to work on Animal Farm. We reviewed Chapter 3 (looking in depth at exactly how Squealer was able to persuade the animals to ignore the pig's piggy behavior) and began Chapter 4 in class. Homework: In addition to journaling and studying the Prologue, write up a Squealer-type argument in favor of something not currently allowed at school. Then finish reading Chapter 4 and jot down a few notes about what the three stages of Snowball's defense of the farm entailed. Period 6 Afternoon college prep students began with warmups, whiteboard sentences, and slideshow before tackling the Prologue practice. We rounded out the period by reading on in Animal Farm. Homework: Students should be very busy tonight. They need to journal, practice the poem, and finish reading Chapter 3. THERE WILL BE A READING QUIZ OVER CHAPTER 3 TOMORROW! Period 7 Afternoon honors students began with warmups and Prologue practice, then discussed in depth how Snowball's defense of the farm worked, noting the amusing similarities with Direct TV's new ad. Homework: Journal and study the poem as usual. Illustrate your Squealer-type argument if you did not do so already. Then complete your Chapter 4 activity (either the comic strip or the letter from Boxer -- your choice) and the Chapters 3 and 4 reading questions.
