FHS Literary Daze
 
Period 2
Morning college prep students began the day with the announcements and warmups, then worked on whiteboard sentences (latent + militant) and the slideshow. The last few people to ace the Prologue worked on that while everyone else journaled, finished up homework, or wrote the Prologue on their warmups.  After the farm animals were fed, we read Chapter 5 of Animal Farm. Homework: Finish reading Chapter 5; there will be a "pop" reading quiz over it tomorrow. Also, do the Chapter 5 homework assignment (either a Missing Persons poster for Mollie or a political slogan poster featuring Napoleon and Snowball). Remember that if you have missed a previous assignment, you can do BOTH the Chapter 5 ones to replace your 0 with a 100.

Period 3
Morning honors students began the day with announcements and warmups. We went over Friday's vocabulary test and checked the Chapter 7 and 8 homework afterward. The remainder of class was spent going through Chapter 8 and beginning Chapter 9 of Animal Farm. Homework: Tonight you have two assignments; first, you need to write a revisionist paragraph for Chapter 8, then you need to write an obituary for Boxer for Chapter 9.  Make sure that both pieces are illustrated and colorful.

Period 6
Afternoon college prep students began with warmups, whiteboard sentences (latent + militant), and the vocabulary slideshow. I then listened to Prologue recitations (8 lines minimum, but I took the whole poem for the test grade if students wanted to get it over with) while students turned in last week's warmups. Afterward I checked journals and Chapter 3-4, 5-6 reading questions.  We ended class with a pop quiz over Chapter 7, after which we went over the content of that chapter. Homework: Tonight you have TWO Animal Farm assignments. For Chapter 6, you should write and illustrate a paragraph on who the scapegoat is in your life. For Chapter 7, you should make EITHER a Most Wanted poster for Snowball or else a Pigs Gone Wild trifold (showcasing all the ways the pigs are breaking the rules).  If you want to make up a missing Habits of Mind Grade, do both assignments and I will replace one 0 with a 100.

Period 7 did not meet today.
