After being sick for over a week, during which time students were forced to watch the horrible film version of Animal Farm, Ms. Young is back on the Web! Sorry about the lack of blogging! Period 3 Morning honors students listened to the announcements before launching into poem recitations (the full Prologue to Act I of Romeo and Juliet). Once those were out of the way, I checked the last homework assignment from Animal Farm and administered a pop quiz over Chapter 7. We then discussed the upcoming vocabulary exam and how we would prepare for it (starting with the review sheet I distributed). Homework: Do the questions over Chapters 5 and 6, and complete the vocab review. Please also continue journaling as usual. Period 7 Afternoon honors students began class with poem recitations (the full Prologue to Act I of Romeo and Juliet). Once those were out of the way, I checked homework and discussed the upcoming vocabulary exam and how we will prepare for it. After that, students got a head start on the homework by beginning the vocab review sheet. Homework: Complete the vocab review and work on your journal as usual. Period 6 Afternoon college prep students began the class with whiteboard sentences (accomplice + annihilate) and the vocabulary slideshow, then worked on the Prologue to Act I of Romeo and Juliet (completing worksheet 7-1). Afterward we went through the first four chapters of Animal Farm, summarizing what happened page by page (to remind students who may have forgotten where we were in the long interim since we last worked on the book). Homework: Now that you understand the Battle of the Cowshed, either illustrate exactly what happened in comic strip form or else write a letter from Boxer's point of view discussing what transpired. Also, keep on journaling! Period 2 did not meet today. CommentsLeave a Reply | What'd I Miss?If you weren't in class today ArchivesFebruary 2012 Categories |
