Extra Credit Opportunities

Students have many options for gaining extra credit in my class. Extra credit for most things is accumulated throughout the term, then put onto students' lowest grades.  Here's how to win yourself extra points:

  • Finding/Using Vocabulary--If you find one of our vocab words in something you’re reading, bring it in for +2 points.  If you manage to use our vocab words in your writing, they’re worth +2 points as well.
  • Movie Tickets--Some movies are made from books or else reference things we’re learning in class.  Bring back the ticket from such a movie for +3 points.
  • Wall of Shame--If you find a typo in something, you may bring it in for me to see and make a copy of it.  Typos are worth +3 points each.
  • Good YouTube Video--Did you see a great video on YouTube? If so, send me the link to it and I'll watch it. If I can think of a way to use it in class, you'll get +7 points.
  • Class Contribution--Once per term, you may bring in an approved item to get +10 on an exam. For Term 1, I am accepting a box of Kleenex or generic tissues. I will accept a canned good for the school's annual food bank collection drive during Term 2, a pack of index cards during Term 3, and a pack of pencils or pens during Term 4.
