Vintage Photo Project
To give ourselves a breather from all the intensive reading we did, we are commencing upon a three-day creative writing project. Honors students have picked a vintage photo from Ms. Young's huge cache, and are now writing about it. Since the actual photos have great sentimental value to Ms. Young, nobody is allowed to take them home, but in case students want to further peruse their chosen images, they may click the links below to find a scan of each one.
Day 2 Assignment: Take the first person today and BE the person in your photograph. Your job is to spin a tale that reveals some of your subject's personality and history while also incorporating details about the photo (place taken, year, etc.) and the actual moment of the photo being taken.
Day 1 Assignment: In beautiful, literary prose, describe your chosen image in as much detail as possible. Do not add anything to the photo (no inventing personal backgrounds, thoughts, or histories), and do not use any details about the actual photograph's condition, shape, or origin. Stick only to the subject of the photograph! You should produce between 6 and 10 sentences for this assignment.
NOTE: Students who chose photos that turned out to be part of a group only need to write about ONE image from their group!
